# Configure check-in methods for the Check-in Stations

Choose whether guests check in by QR code, by searching for their name, or both — and choose which fields they can search by.

**Check-in methods** control how guests identify themselves at the station. You can enable one or both methods — at least one must be enabled.

**Where to find it**

Go to **Check-in Station** in Event Management, then open the **Methods** tab.

**QR code**

Turn on **QR code** so guests can present their QR code to the iPad camera for instant check-in.

**Search by attendee**

Turn on **Search by attendee** so guests can look themselves up by name or other fields instead of scanning.

**Choose searchable fields**

When search is enabled, select which fields guests can search by:

1.  Under **Searchable fields**, open the dropdown.
2.  Select fields from **Event defaults** (First name, Last name, Company Email address, Guest ID) and **Custom fields** (Important: Only Active and Visible Data Fields can be selected).
3.  Selected fields appear as chips in the field. Select a chip's field again to remove it.

Guests will see a search box that prompts them to search by the fields you selected.

> **Note:** If you turn off both QR code and search, your guests will have no way to check in and the Check-in stations are locked.
