Reverting a Check-In (Undoing a Check-In)

Mistakes happen. Sometimes you check in the wrong guest, or a guest accidentally leaves and needs to be re-entered, or you simply need to reset a check-in for testing purposes. The Revert feature allows you to undo a check-in quickly and easily.

How to revert a check-in:

  1. Open the Check-in App and select your event.
  2. Find the guest whose check-in you want to undo (use search or filter by "Checked In" status).
  3. Tap on the guest's name to open their profile.
  4. Press and hold the grey Checked In button for approximately 2 seconds.
  5. The Check In button will return to black again, and the check-in has been successfully reverted.

What happens after reverting:

  • The guest's status changes from Checked In back to their previous status (e.g., Confirmed).
  • The check-in timestamp is removed from the guest's timeline.
  • The device name is no longer associated with a check-in record for that guest.
  • The change syncs instantly to all other devices.
  • The guest list numbers update automatically: Checked In decreases by 1, and the status (Confirmed) increases by 1.
  • The guest's name returns to normal formatting (no italics, no grey background, no check-in icon).
  • The Check In button becomes available again.

When to use revert:

ScenarioShould you revert?

You checked in the wrong guest by accident

✅ Yes

You are testing the app before the event

✅ Yes

A guest was checked in but never actually arrived

✅ Yes

You need to correct a duplicate check-in

✅ Yes

Important notes:

  • Reverting a check-in does not delete the guest or any of their other data (name, email, custom fields, etc.).
  • If a plus-one was checked in, you will need to revert the whole party (open the primary guest's profile and revert).
  • Reverted check-ins are not recorded in your reports (the original check-in timestamp is removed)

Pro tip: Use the "Checked In" filter to find guests who have been checked in. If a guest was reverted, they will no longer appear in this filtered view. This is another quick way to confirm the revert was done.
