Searching for Guests
When guests are arriving in waves and lines are forming, you don't have time to scroll through hundreds of names. The search feature helps you find anyone in seconds.
How to search:
- Open the Check-in App and select your event and guest list.
- Tap on the Search bar at the top of the screen.
- Start typing the guest's name, email address, or any custom field value.
- The app will show matching results as you type.
What you can search by:
| Search type | Example |
|---|---|
First name | "John" |
Last name | "Smith" |
Full name | "John Smith" |
Email address | "john@example.com" |
Custom fields | Company name, ticket number, etc. |
Pro tips for fast searching:
- Partial names work. You don't need to type the full name. "Joh" will find John, Johanna, and Johnson.
- Case doesn't matter. "SMITH" and "smith" return the same results.
- Combine search terms. You can narrow down results by combining terms, such as a name and a company (e.g., "John Acme").
- Search by company name. If a group of guests from the same company shows up together, simply search for the company name to display all of them at once and check them in quickly.
- Searching in Chinese or Japanese characters. The search requires at least two characters to trigger. However, you can type one character followed by a space to force a search with just that single character.
What if a guest isn't found?
If a guest doesn't appear in search, check that:
- You have selected the correct event and guest list.
- You spelled the guest correctly.
- You typed at least 2 characters or letters.
- You do not have any filters switched on that excludes this guest from the results.
- The guest hasn't been moved to another guest list (ask a team member to check on their device).
If the guest truly isn't in the system, you can add them onsite using the Add a Guest feature.
Pro tip: Practice searching before the event starts. A couple of minutes of training will save your team precious seconds when many guests arrive at the same time.
